I've been playing music and singing since I was eight years old. My mom's side of the family is very musical, and I always remember hearing music in the house growing up. My mom, brother, and uncles all sing and play multiple instruments. With all that music around me, I couldn't wait to be a part of it!
My brother Phil was my first musical mentor. He was the one who taught me my first chords and drum beats. We were constantly working on music together as kids. We would lock ourselves in my parents den for hours to jam and work on ideas. those are still some of my favorite musically memories.
The first time I ever played music in front of people was in church. My dad is a pastor, and my mom leads worship, so we were at church all the time. As a kid, I loved getting to go into the sanctuary late at night when no one was around. I would turn all the lights on and practice on the instruments for hours. It was such a thrill to be up on that stage when I was young... It felt like the big leagues! Haha
During high school, I became friends with the people who would eventually become the members of a band called Shachah (Hip-Hop/Funk/Rock/Reggae - Cross Movement Records). I was 17 when the band formed. We played worship music for a college night in Costa Mesa called Worship Generation, and what we thought was going to be one night of music, ended up turning into 10 years of touring across the globe doing music full time. The phone just started ringing, and as soon as I graduated, we hit the road!
During the last few years of Shachah's ministry, our lead singer, and my best friend Brenden Mcpeek started a side project called The Soul Reformation. (Soul/Funk/Blues - Independent). I've had the privilege of playing the drums, guitar and sing back up vocals in this amazing group since November of 2013.
Throughout this time, I would write music and journal my thoughts. Mainly, for my own therapy. But in the last few years, I have really felt the desire to share my music and thoughts with others. The lyrical content is inspired by my life. My personal struggles, victories, fears, joys, and doubts. I released my debut E.P. in 2016, and have blown away by the response it's received! My goal is to continue to create music that gives people hope and keeps their body moving at the same time! I hope you enjoy it!
