A Word For Future Students:
I tell my students all the time, "all I want is your best!" If I feel I'm getting that from you, then I'm happy. Everyone learns at a different pace, but if you're practicing through the week, and taking the pointers I'm giving you, I promise we will get to your personal goals, and my goals for you as your music teacher.
I take teaching very serious, and I'm really invested in my students. You are not just another face on another instrument. It means much more to me than that. Whether you're a beginner just starting out, or someone who's been playing at a more intermediate level and wants to take everything to another level, I'm looking to share everything I've learned over the years with you. Everything I have is yours!

How This Whole Music Thing Started
Ever since I can remember, I've been listening to, and playing music. My Mom's side of the family is very musical. I can remember watching my mom at the piano practicing and singing, and going to see my two uncles playing top 40's and latin jazz music at coffee shops, bars, and restaurants. Growing up in church, I was around of lot of musicians, and I got the opportunity to play at a very young age. My parents have old family videos of me banging on my tricycle with toothbrushes like a drum set at the age of 4. I definitely had the music bug. By age 8, I was taking my first drum lessons alongside my older brother. And by age 9, my brother was showing me my first chords on acoustic guitar. It's been non-stop ever since!
My professional music career started as the lead guitarist and background vocalists of the band Shachah (Hip-hop/Funk/Rock) when I was 16. We had the incredible opportunity to travel the U.S., and also go out of the country a number of times during our 10 year run as a group. That band has now transitioned into a group called Brenden McPeek and the Soul Reformation (Soul/Blues/Funk) which I play drums and/or sing background vocals for as well. In 2013, I began working on my own original music as well. The style of my music is a soulful blend of funk and pop music that I play guitar and lead sing in. I have finished tracking for my first E.P., and releases that project on 2016! Click the link to see what I'm currently working on!
I truly love teaching. I have such a passion for music, and if I can spark that passion for music in someone else, whether they're age 5 or 85, I'm doing my job! I've had the privilege of having some amazing musical teachers and mentors in my life, and my hope is to be one of those people for my students. I've been performing for live audiences in different bands for the past 22 years. Along the way, I've made 6 albums, toured the world, and had the privilege of being signed to a record label. My E.P. Josh Wagner Music as well as the music of Shachah and The Soul Reformation can be found on iTunes.
My style of teaching is for all ages. Its a hands-on, practical approach to music. I want to get you playing the instrument quickly so you can hear music coming from your hands. Music that you love, and music that will you keep you going back to your instrument to practice day in, and day out. My teaching styles range from pop, rock, funk, hip-hop, reggae, country, and soul. As I've been teaching guitar lessons, drum lessons and voice lessons in the Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, and surrounding Orange County areas areas, I've been blown away by the progress of my students. When I take you on as a student, whether it's guitar lessons, drum lessons, or vocal lessons, I don't want you to just be playing music for a few months, I want you be playing music for many years to come!
